Cassivelaunus

A British chief, ruled over the country north of the Tamesis (Thames), and was intrusted by the Britons with the supreme command on Caesar's second invasion of Britain, B.C. 54. He was defeated by Caesar, and was obliged to sue for peace. Cf. Caes. B. G. v. 11, 18.
