[3] 21. δύναμις—see crit. note. The gloss πόλις is, of course, due to πολυάνθρωπος. An obvious change would be δύναμις μ. καὶ <πόλις> πολυάνθρωπος, but δύναμις πολυάνθρωπος is surely a possible phrase, as δύναμις denotes military power: cf. 33. 2 αὕτη δύναμιςπάρεστιν αὐτεπάγγελτος.

23. ἀπὸ πολέμου ... ἐφθάρησανin consequence of a war with ... they became crippled.
