[77] ἠμαθόεντος: here as an adj. of two endings, cf. v. 503 and note, vs. 570, 695, 742; see § 20 a. This use of adjs. in -“εις”, as of two endings, is confined to geographical names; and the gender may have been different in the poet's age and dialect.
