The present participle is generally used of contemporaneous action, either total or partial. “ἐμὲ . . . λέγεις τὸν νεώτατον λέγων,” PLATO, Parmen. 137C ; You mean me when you speak of the youngest. “δουλεύουσί γε μαστιγούμενοι καὶ σφαττόμενοι,” DEM.9.66 ; They lead the lives of slaves, being scourged and butchered. “λόγους προσφέρων ἀπώλεσεν αὐτήν,” LYS. 1.8 ; (By) making proposals he ruined her.
