A singular subject combined with another word by “μετά” (“σύν”) rarely takes the plural. “Ἀλκιβιάδης ἐκ Σάρδεων μετὰ Μαντιθέου τοῦ ἁλόντος ἐν Καρίᾳ ἵππων εὐπορήσαντες νυκτὸς ἀπέδρασανεἰς Κλαζομενάς”, XEN. Hell. 1.1.10; Alcibiades and Mantitheus . . . ran off to Clazomenae. XEN. Hell. 1.1.10 (see above). THUC.3.109.2: “κρύφα δὲ Δημοσθένης μετὰ τῶν ξυστρατήγων Ἀκαρνάνων σπένδονται Μαντινεῦσι”.
