[696] Δήμητρος τέμενος: consecrated field of Demeter; in appos. with “Πύρασον”, cf. vs. 506, 592. This afterwards gave to Pyrasus the name “Δημήτριον. — τέμενος”: lit. a piece of land set apart (“τέμνω”) for a divinity or a royal domain. Its use corresponds in some respects with that of templum.
