nostra: for mea, as it is absurd to suppose, with some critics, that Catullus recognizes in Caelius an equal interest with himself in Lesbia>.

[4] angiportis: alley-ways; cf. Hor. Carm. 1.25.9invicem moechos anus adrogantes flebis in solo levis angiportu.

[5] magnanimi Remi nepotes: i.e., the descendants of the Romans of a noble day have fallen thus low. There is indignation but not sarcasm in the phrase; cf. Catul. 49.1 n.
