For Aristodemus and his dishonour cf. vii. 229-31. The order in which the names are given is clearly that of merit, hence below only Posidonius is compared with Aristodemus. Σπαρτιῆται. The MSS. Σπαρτιήτης is impossible, as it would imply that the other two were Perioeci.
