The φλοῦς (Att. φλέως) is the Arundo ampelodesmon; cf. Postans, Sindh, p. 60, for its use by the Miami, a fisherfolk on the Indus, for ‘mats’ (φορμοῦ), &c. H. perhaps is borrowing from Scylax (cf. iv. 44).
