Ἀχιλλήιον. H. perhaps gives this description here, not in c. 18 or in c. 55, where it would seem to us more natural, because it suits his account of the secret rite.

ἐκδησάμενος, ‘hanging from himself.’ The ἀγάλματα are small figures of the goddess and of Atys worn on the breast (hence called προστηθίδια); cf. Polyb. xxi. 31 for their use by the Galli of Pessinus.
