H. has refuted the Ionian view, that Egypt was only the Delta (15. 1) in the preceding chapter; he now proceeds to argue that it is inconsistent with the accepted doctrine that there were three continents (οἵ φασι τρία μόρια κτλ.: cf. iv. 45. 5). He seems to think that if Egypt were the Delta, it was in neither Asia nor Libya (v. i.), but a ‘fourth’ part. His argument, however, is very obscure.

λογίζεσθαι, ‘they cannot count,’ as they ignore the Delta.
