Πολίχνη: a common name found near Syracuse (Thuc. vii. 4; Diod. xiii. 7, xiv. 72), in the Troad (Strabo 603), in Crete (vii. 170. 1; Thuc. ii. 85), &c. Here probably a town in Chios, or on the mainland opposite (cf. Thuc. viii. 14, 23).
