The main sentence beginning καί κως is left incomplete, and the words explaining συντυχίη (which should have been ἔπειτε τὸν κήρυκα . . . διαλέγεσθαι κτλ.) become an independent sentence, into which the verbs (μεταστραφῆναι, ὑποκρίνασθαι) of the main sentence are attracted.
