[69] ἡμερίς only means ‘brought into cultivation from the wild state’ (“ ἀγριάς” Anth. P. 9. 561). Theophrastus (Plant. Hist. 3. 8. 2) says, speaking of different species of oak-trees, “τὴν τὰς γλυκείας φέρουσαν οἱ μὲν τὴν ἡμερίδα καλοῦσι, οἱ δὲ ἐτυμόδρυν”.
