[99] νηυσὶν ἐνί forms an antithesis to ἐπὶ νῆας. I took them to the ships, and ‘when I had got them there,’ etc.

The space ὑπὸ ζυγά was esteemed a secure place; Odysseus stows there the presents given him by Alcinous, Od.13. 21, and treasures are hidden there; cp. Eur. Cycl.144ἐν σέλμασιν νεώς ἐστι” .
