For this use of the plural with the force of an abstract substantive in Homer compare “ἀφραδίας Od.19. 523, “βίας Il.5. 521, “δίκῃσι Il.16. 542, “ἱπποσυνάων Il.16. 776, “ὑπεροπλίῃσι Il.1. 205, “πολυιδρείῃσι” inf. 346; etc. Translate here, ‘base scheming.’
