[643] κοῦροι is connected by Döderl. with “κορυστής”, and interpreted as equivalent to ‘qui arma ferre potest.’ The word is found with the addition of “νέοι Il.13. 95, of “πρωθῆβαι Od.8. 262.In Il.6. 59κοῦρος” stands for a child of noble race, yet unborn. Others refer the word to the same root as “κύριος”.
