[388] δύσετοσκιόωντο. With sunset darkness begins at once, with little or no interval of twilight. This picturesquely describes the natural phenomena of the southern part of Europe. The night which comes speedily down is called in the Odyssey “θοὴ νύξ”. This line occurs again, in Od.3. 487; 11.12; 15. 185, 296 Od., 471.The simultaneous effect is brought out by the double “τε”.
