[438] κύματοςτά τε. For this use of a plural relative after a collective noun in the singular see on Od. 1.312; cp. also Virg. Aen.8. 427‘fulmen quae plurima,’ etc. For the force of τά τε see note on Od. 1.50.

ἐξαναδύς, not only ‘rising up from the overwhelming wave,’ but rather ‘getting outside the line of breakers;’ as Odysseus himself interprets it by the word “ἀναχασσάμενος Od.7. 280.
