[383] ἐπασσύτεροι: usually derived from “ἄγχι”; cf. “ἀσσοτέρω,Od. 17.572 , Od. 19.506. The “υ” is called Aeolic. But Brugmann refers it to “ἐπ-αν-ς”(“ε”)“ύ”(“ω”), separating it from “ἆσσον”. The sense is much the same, close upon or hurrying up.
