[559] The fut. indic. here gives the simplest sense, ὡς (lit. ‘how’) expressing the content of the promise. The subj. however is defensible, and is classed by Goodwin with “λίσσομαι ὅπως” (Od. 3.19, Od. 8.344), ‘promising to act taking the same constr. as entreating to act ’ (M. and T. § 359, cf. H. G. § 285 [2]).
