[741] 741 is a very clumsy line as the text stands; 742-4 seem meant to supplant, not to follow, 741, and to bring in the later myth of the Centaurs and Lapiths, of which Athens made so much. As the fight took place at the wedding of Peirithoos and Hippodameia, clearly τέκετο = conceived. For the other allusions to the tale see on 1.263.
