[97] The simplest construction of παρά is with “τοῦ”, but the rhythm is in favour of joining the participle with the verb, as the line is otherwise divided into two equal halves (for which, however, Fäsi compares 2.39 “θήσειν γὰρ ἔτ᾽ ἔμελλεν ἐπ᾽ ἄλγεά τε στοναχάς τε”). Cf. H. G. § 192. There appears (acc. to Veitch and the lexx.) to be no other instance in Greek of the mid. of “παραφέρειν”, though “προσφέρεσθαι” occurs in
