[22] “σθένεϊ βλεμεαίνει,8.337; it is pretty clear that the added περί means exceedingly (H. G. § 186), though Hoffmann thinks it implies ‘his strength forms the centre, the kernel, of his fury.’ This is hardly likely. Here again we are tempted to read “μέγα” in conjunction with “μάλιστα” in the preceding line; cf. 14.399ὅς τε μάλιστα μέγα βρέμεται χαλεπαίνων”. The sons of Panthoos are Euphorbos, Hyperenor, Polydamas.
