[493] ὀπαζόμενος, driven on from behind; used somewhat like a passive to “ἐφέπειν” in the sense “διώκειν”, see 5.91, 334, 8.341, and Eur. El. 1192ὤπασας ἀπὸ γᾶς”. The other use of “ὀπάζειν”, to make to accompany, is more like a causal to “<*>πεσθαι”. Nauck conj. “ἀεξόμενος”, a mere guess. χειμάρρους is here an adjective; cf. note on 5.88.
