[29] Compare Od. 10.435ὥσπερ Κύκλωψ ἕρξ̓, ὅτε οἱ μέσσαυλον ἵκοντο ἡμέτεροι ἕταροι”. The phrase seems more in keeping there. What νείκεσσε means it is not easy to guess; no recognized use of the word seems to suit. Apparently the author must have had some such idea as humiliated (Hera and Athena).
