[612] Παισῶι: this would seem to be the same as “Ἀπαισός” in 2.828. Of course we might read “ἐν Ἀπαισῶι” here. But the shorter form is supported not only by the MSS., but by Strabo and Byz. Steph. as well as Herod. and the Et. Mag. For 614 compare 2.834; it is evident that the composer of the lines in B had this passage before him, though there Amphios is called son of Merops.
