[251] τράφεν ἠδὲ γένοντο: for the “ὕστερον πρότερον” cf. Od. 12.134 “θρέψασα τεκοῦσά τε μήτηρ”, and elsewhere. ἐφθίατο is probably plpf., but it might be aor. τράφεν: see on 2.661.
