[143] 143 was rejected by Aristarchos as involving unnecessary repetition; the “πληθύς” of course knew nothing of the council. For μετά with acc. = among compare 9.54, Od. 16.419, and Od. 4.652 (though in the latter passage “μεθ᾽ ἡμέαςmay mean ‘next to us’); and also “μετὰ χεῖρας”, Herod.vii. 16. 2, Thuc.i. 138, etc. See H. G. § 195. Van L. reads “κατά”, which we should have expected; the two are constantly confused in MSS., see App. Crit. on 163, 179 below, and 1.424.
