[475] τιμ̂ηντα, a most suspicious contraction, see on 9.605. Various attempts have been made to remove it by conjecture (see Menrad, 84-88); the only one which has any plausibility is Payne Knight's “χρυσὸν τιμήεντα”, where the asyndeton is certainly harsh in a list like this. It seems that we must accept the contraction here as in I, and attribute it to the lateness of both books.
