[235] Athetized by Ar. and Aph.on the ground that it quite spoils the rhetorical effect of the reproach; Agamemnon ought to say ‘we are no match even for the weakest Trojan.’ It has all the appearance of a gloss. “ἧττον ἄν φησιν Ἀρίσταρχος ὀνειδιστικὸν εἶναι, εἴπερ οὕτως ἐγέγραπτο Ἕκτορος, ὧι δὴκῦδος Ὀλύμπιος αὐτὸς ὀπάξει”, i.e. Ar. objected to some critic, who had proposed this emendation, that it weakened the force of Ag.'s objurgation to admit that Hector's success was due to Zeus.
