[416] The omission of the substantive verb with an adverb is perhaps unique. For the use of adverbs with “εἰμί” see 6.131 “δὴν ἦν,” 7.424 “διαγνῶναι χαλεπῶς ἦν,” 9.551 “Κουρήτεσσι κακῶς ἦν”, and cf. 4.466 “μίνυνθα δέ οἱ γένεθ᾽ ὁρμή”.
