[384] ἀμφίς: so MSS.; Bentley “ἀμφί”, which is, however, found with gen. in H. only 16.825, Od. 8.267. Monro H. G. § 184 comp. “ αττ.περιορῶμαι” with gen. = to look round after, take thought about (Thuc.iv. 124), and also the gen. with “ἀμφιμάχεσθαι” 16.496, etc. “ἀμφίς” with gen. appears elsewhere always in the sense ‘aside from.’
