[258] For the double γε cf. 16.30 “μὴ ἐμέ γ᾽ οὖν οὗτός γε λάβοι χόλος”. 287-8 and 22.266 are doubtful cases. Schol. A (Didymos) remarks, “οὕτως ποῦν διὰ τοῦ γ Ἀρίσταρχος”: this perhaps indicates the existence of a variant “εἴ κ᾽ οὖν”, which is at least unobjectionable, perhaps preferable, and is conjectured by Heyne.
