[122] 122 = 17.693, 18.21. It is to be presumed that Menelaos takes it for granted that Hector will have seized the armour immediately upon his retiring. But the line is clearly interpolated here. We ought to hear first that the armour is actually taken. The real antithesis to νέκυν περ is the live man, not the mere armour.
