[68] ὣς γάρ, so he was to me at least. The scholia appear to have read “ὡς γὰρ ἐμοί γ᾽”, as appears to me (in my opinion), perversely turning poetry into prose. ἡμάρτανε δώρων, failed of his gifts, i.e. omitted to render them. The phrase would more naturally be used of the receiver; but we may fairly compare “οὐχ ἡμάρτανε μύθων”, did not fail of (uttering) words, Od. 11.511. 69-70 = 4.48-9.
