[73] The sentence begins as if “οἱ μέν” or “ὑμεῖς μὲν .. οἱ δέ” were to follow in distributive apposition as in Od. 24.483; but the change made is a very natural one. φιλότητα goes with “ταμόντες” by a rather violent zeugma.
