[725] ἐπίσσωτρον, tire, from “σῶτρον”, another name for the felloe, according to Pollux; cf. “ἐύσσωτρος” 24.578. But here as elsewhere there is a well-attested variant “ὀπίσσωτρον”, which would point to a der. from “ὀπίσω”.
