[795] τά γε χρυσείην: the only other instance in H. of a vowel left short before “χρ” is Od. 8.353 “οἴχοιτο χρέος”. The λάρναξ evidently answers to the “φιάλη” of 23.253; for the “κάπετος” cf. 18.564, Soph. Aj. 1165, 1403 “κοίλην κάπετον χερσὶ ταχύνετε”.
