[455] οὐκ ἄν, i.e. ‘otherwise.’ The γάρ in the preceding clause, in which this one is anticipated by the word ὧδε, expresses this, without the need of supplying any further ellipse beyond that which is implied in this very common use of “γάρ”. For the use of πληγέντε of females see 378 above.
