[144] ῥέα monosyllable, see note on 17.462. The vulg. “ῥεῖα δ᾽ ἐλεύσεσθαι” is hopeless. Brandreth's “Ϝρεια Ϝ̓” is not Homeric. Pallis conj. “ῥεῖ᾽ ἐπελεύσεσθαι”, comparing 9.651 “ἐπί τε κλισίας καὶ νῆας ἱκέσθαι κτείνοντα”.
