[42] ὥς τε goes with “ἐπέσσυται”: we should expect the simple infin. See note on 6.361, and cf. Od. 17.21, the only case in H. of “ὥς τε” in the sense ‘so that’ with infin. Here Lehrs would read “ἀπονέεσθαι” (Ar. 157). But the idea of comparison given by “ὥστε” is not entirely lost; ‘if thy heart is set, as though for going.’
