[337] For the long “α” of ἀγοράασθε cf. “ἀπονέεσθαι” 113, 288, etc., “ἀθάνατος” 306, etc., “δυναμένοιοOd. 1.276, and other instances, which will be found enumerated and discussed in App. It D. is due to the ictus, and is confined to forms which would not otherwise suit the verse. “ἀγοράομαι” occurs elsewhere in H. only in impf. and aor.
