[272] μίσησεν, with all other derivatives from the same stem, is elsewhere unknown to H. The addition of Τρωῖηισιν to the gen. δ́ηιων is hardly a Homeric construction; the most similar instances are 5.741Γοργείη κεφαλὴ δεινοῖο πελώρου,2.54Νεστορέηι παρὰ νηῒ Πυλοιγενέος βασιλῆος”, where the order of the words is more natural. The adj. may have been added as a gloss, the rest of the line being filled up in a manner which hardly suits the lines immediately preceding, where Zeus' help is given in another way. But the whole couplet is probably a feeble attempt to round off the preceding interpolation.
