[60] Thetis, according to the later legend, was patronised by Hera, in reward of her rejection of the amorous advances of Zeus. Her marriage to Peleus is elsewhere ascribed to the gods at large, 18.85. “ καί ” is very rarely left long before a vowel; hence van L. reads “καὶ ϝ᾽”. But see 570, 641, Od. 2.230, Od. 2.232, Od. 11.113, 161 Od. 12.140; the license seems to be another link between “Ω” and Od., the only other case in H. being 15.290 (= Od. 22.372) where see note.
