[10] The conjunction of the two participles ἐθέλοντα and ἐλθόντα is excessively awkward, and only explicable by the fact that 10 is adapted from 2.391 (cf. 1.549, 15.348), and 11 borrowed without change from 13.9. ἀρηγέμεν must depend on “ἐθέλοντα”.
