[646] καί, likewise; as men of old time honoured their dead with games, so do to thy friend. It is not copulative, for “ἀλλ᾽ ἴθι” is always joined asyndetically with a following imper. 24.336 is a possible exception after “βάσκ᾽ ἴθι”, but even there the sense likewise, as thou dost to others, is admissible. The same applies to Od. 18.171ἀλλ᾽ ἴθι καὶ σῶι παιδὶ ἔπος φάο”, say to thy son also (what thou hast said to me). (Död.)
