[76] νίσσομαι, a pres., not necessarily with fut. sense; by translating I come back no more we see how closely the two are connected. The idea that “νίσσομαι” is pres., “νίσομαι” fut., seems to have no foundation. Cf. 13.186. The variant “νείομαι” will represent “νέομαι”, with lengthening in first arsis. Observe the pathetic effect of the verb which, with its derivative “νόστος”, is regularly used of happy returning home, as though from banishment.
