[363] Eurystheus is mentioned by name again in 15.639, 19.133; cf. also the late passage Od. 11.621. There is no reason to suppose that the “ἄεθλα”, which are left indeterminate here, are the famous twelve; this number probably came from Eastern sources in post-Homeric times.
