[184] ἐνδέξια: 12.239. Some have seen in the use of the word an allusion to the sacred nature of an appeal by lot; but there is always a ‘lucky’ and an ‘unlucky’ direction of circulation, even with the wine. The herald goes “ἐνδέξια” for luck. It is evident that the marking in 175 did not imply any writing, as no one understands any mark but his own.
